India instrumental in toppling Rajapaksa
....This flies in the face of KV who claimed that Rajapaksa was Modi's man.

The problem is Indian govt forgot to call KV before they set up this toppling effort. KV, like modi critics on such, goes for instinctive negativity and criticizes without facts.

Yeah, Modi wishing Rajapakse for success in the election (unprecedented) is all part of this strategy..

I think there should be curbs on Indian media. The manner in which information on security and sensitive international relations are published is irresponsible. What the media did during 26/11 attack was callus.
The average Sri Lankan won't like what she/he reads on this story.

It is just that Indian need to gloat. " Oh look how clever our intelligence services are."

I agree. But then we know how Indian media is. Looking for ways to create trouble for NDA.Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:I think there should be curbs on Indian media. Here they seem to have copied some story from Srilankan newspaper. Big sections of Srilankan Media anyway is anti-India.
Actually the article claims that it was a sketchy (not sure what sketchy means here) report in a Srilankan newspaper. It is also possible that the article in the original report, was published with Malicious intent. I find it hard to believe this. If there were any truth in this, it would have been easy for Rajapakshe to explicitly blame India. He did not do so. Let us not forget that Rajapakshe called for early election. Why would he do that, if he knew foreign powers were against him ?

the indiam FM and home minister should categorically deny this and put a stop to this.
P.S. interfering in another nations internal affairs is every country's right.

Yes.. Thanks for reminding..
Looks like as part of state craft, Modi sent his PR team to help Rajapakse win the elections
Arvind Gupta, head of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s IT division / IT Cell, a key figure in installing the former Gujarat Chief Minister Narenda Modi as India's 15th (Current) Prime Minister, has been hired by the Sri Lankan Government, in steering & strengthening President Mahinda Rajapakse's social media strategy.

The info of Ponniyin Selvan is from some random blog. This is a much more credible source:
Mr. Senaratne said the opposition drew its inspiration from Narendra Modi’s campaign for prime minister in India, which tapped into a reservoir of frustration with the ruling Nehru-Gandhi family. He said opposition campaigners had received advice from firms that worked on Mr. Modi’s campaign, although they had not received any funds from foreign governments.
“I think even India would like to have another government” in Sri Lanka, he said, “where they would have another understanding” with the country’s leaders.

National security adviser Ajit Doval’s meeting in December with Sirisena, former President Chandrika Kumaratunga, former PM Ranil Wickremesinghe and leaders of the TNA had a significant role in shaping the united opposition against Rajapaksa. Rajapaksa might have the support of Beijing. However, India has been far ahead on propping up favourable regimes in neighbouring countries than China, which is at loss with the intricacies of electoral politics, and feels more comfortable to deal with dictators.

And he got Modiji's permission to say so.
