the initial post in the forum linked below is a fine introduction to the insecurities and concerns of the young, indian male who lives outside india, and what westerners think of him:

ejmr is almost exclusively populated by ph.d. students of economics, and young assistant professors of economics; very few are indian; most, perhaps as many as 35% are european, about as many, from the u.s., about 20% from latin america, and most of the rest, from china.

while at least one post refers to the rape culture of (the northpeepals of) india, surprisingly absent is any mention, in this thread, of open defecation, which seems to be the only other subject these non-asians talk about, whenever india is mentioned.
