Leaping from the frying pan into the fire
Il Douche was not personally under investigation when Comey was leading the Russia investigation. Instead of openly acknowledging the Russian hacking, he sought to underplay the problem at every stage, undermined the investigation as well as the CIA and FBI, and interfered in the investigation by asking Comey to let Flynn go, asking Coats and Rogers about the invesgitation, and asking Comey to clear him personally. The frying pan was too hot and uncomfortable. So he fired Comey and jumped directly into the fire. Shortly after firing Comey, Il Douche became part of an obstruction of justice investigation.

The move by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III to investigate Trump’s conduct marks a major turning point in the nearly year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, officials said.
Trump had received private assurances from then-FBI Director James B. Comey starting in January that he was not personally under investigation. Officials say that changed shortly after Comey’s firing.

He's itching to fire Mueller. I'm sure he'll go down a few officials in the DOJ before he can find someone to fire Mueller like Nixon did.

Rosenstein will have a tough time firing Mueller after what he said under oath to the Senate intelligence committee last week. So Trump will need to fire Rosenstein and put in his crony to fire Mueller.MaxEntropy_Man wrote:He's itching to fire Mueller. Now that Trump is personally under investigation for obstruction of justice, if he fires, Congress will likely appoint an independent counsel (perhaps retain Mueller himself in that role, like Schiff said the other day).
The talk of Trump firing Mueller was a trial balloon that trumpsters wanted to get out there. They wanted to see how far they can push the GOP. Apparently the GOP pushed back. That doesn't mean Trump will back down; if he carries through with the threat Ryan and McConnell may fall in line. But there's a possibility that they won't and I don't think Trump wants to go that far any more.

As the saying goes, it's never the crime, it's the cover up.

Kellyanne Conway Verified account
Most honest people I know are not under FBI investigation, let alone two.

This is just the beginning. Have some patience. Mueller needs to carefully put together the evidence. In a way, if the media is not aware of it for a while, it would have been better.
I was new here when the Watergate investigation was going on. In reality, sensational as it turned out, while it was going on, it was rather slow........

I think FBI staff got angry/upset with their Chief's firing and the way he was fired. So they are working 'hard' to use all the available resources to find reason/evidence to accuse/bring down DJT. I would say they should but if they had shown the same amount of zeal and enthusiasm to bank looters it would have been great.

Three points:
1) The special counsel Mueller does not work for the FBI. He was appointed by the Justice department.
2) He has been interviewing not just FBI personnel but people from other agencies as well.
3) Trump brought this upon himself. The Russia investigation was proceeding apace. He was not personally under investigation. He was even reassured about that by Comey. But then he did something stupid by asking to be with the FBI director alone and asking him to drop the Flynn investigation. There seem to be other corroborating accounts of similar behavior by him with other agency chiefs. In effect he brought the obstruction of justice investigation upon himself.
