Is Jaggi Vasudev smarter than Ramdev???.....
Ramdev has created a business empire peddling Yoga and Ayurvedic products. He mingled with BJP leaders and, fortunately for him, the political party came to power.......
Sadaguru became a yoga guru and has been giving lectures on Yoga (and just about everything) across the globe. He managed to have a huge following that includes powerful politicians, business people, movie stars, etc.....
Last month, Sadaguru started a movement called, "Rally for Rivers", went driving around the country and organizing huge rallies in 16 states. Political leaders, business communities and the media supported the movement. Jaggi wants to plant trees on either side of the rivers (one Km wide land on both sides will be used) and encourage farmers to move from crop based agriculture to horticulture. He says that their income will at least quadruple and the water in rivers will raise 20%. He backs his approach with "scientific data and analysis" He admits that it will take 25 years to see beneficial effects.....
Sadaguru's plan involves huge financial layouts, involvement of the government, business people, farmers, volunteers and lands. Jaggi's Isha foundation will be involved in the implementation of the project......
Cynics are saying that his plan is not the best way to address the problem, that Jaggi is finding a new way to make money without being accountable, etc. Others are comparing the movement with other great ones that shaped humanity.....
So, is Jaggi Vasudev a very smart businessman or a leader with a genuine heart for the wellbeing of humanity (or both)?????
Here are the first and the last video on his "Rally for Rivers":

He is definitely a Leader and Visionary. He is also someone who doesn't see economics & business devoid of people. He firmly believes that all progress be it science, health, economics or business has to bring about positive and direct impact to people at large. Without the well being of people in the equation there is no sense for the former goals.

smartness is always post facto ; given a choice, i'd always opt for someone who is "good" over "smart"
aside:and of course, "smart" was derived from "samarthu"/"sAmarthiyam"

The English language fluency is definitely an asset to the former, which also results in many educated Indians, at home and abroad, taking notice of his sermons / lectures on youtube etc. and following him as their spiritual guru and yoga teacher.

The actual culmination Sathsang event is available at the below url. About an hour and half talk about how to use this rally both for the cause of the rivers and cause of fulfillment and life and spiritual self of individual. Go to 36th minute to skip the initial music and singing.

Re: Is Jaggi Vasudev smarter than Ramdev???.....
I met Jaggi Vasudev when I was in Manasarovar (literally in the lake). I asked him which way is East (I heard that he made several trips to Mt Kailash in the past). I asked him about the direction because I was going to do tarpanas. He just ignored me (I was not in his group). One of his assistants who was behind him showed me the direction. It took me a while to complete the tarpanas and as I was walking away from the lake to prostrate towards Mt Kailash, Jaggi's sishya joined me and recited whatever I was reciting. When our group was performing homa, he came and joined. The group asked me to recite. Interestingly, Jaggi's sishya joined me and he knew the content and the vidhi. He waited until the homa was complete, took whatever was offered and quietly left. The next time I saw him was when we were doing the parikrama around Kailash. There was a sudden rain (not uncommon there) and we were all trying to find a place to keep ourselves dry. He came, did a namaskaram and left. We never spoke. I have a feeling, he is an enlightened person.smArtha wrote:Not the exact verbatim text of the above video but covers most of the same.

I am a little concerned about Jaggi's advice, in the video, to the young fellow with a SI father. Duties are an essential part of self growth in our culture (Rama's story beautifully depicts this). Sah nyaasa as an escape from duties is not a proper thing. The young fellow can carryout his self growth while not hurting his father........

Don't make quick impressions / inferences. It's like someone posting the following statement on Dr. S. Radhakrishan's wiki-page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarvepalli_Radhakrishnan),Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:I met Jaggi Vasudev when I was in Manasarovar (literally in the lake). "...Vivekananda, who had a strong influence on Radhakrisnan's thought."
In reality, Radhakrishnan in his books on philosophy nowhere quoted or mentioned Vivekananda's name, much less having a strong influence on his thought by Vivekananda. Btw in some passages (one or two at the most) in his book on Indian philosophy, Radhakrishnan mentions the names of Gandhi and Tagore et al. but not Vivekananda.
