what are you summer plans?

Any major travel, hobby, sabbath worth mentioning?

My summer will come early. May-June... Niagara, DC, NYC, Six flags, Hershey Park, broadway, Disney, FL beach, museums.

by end of June, I would be done. Dunno how to fill up July-August.. wogay, the kids might go to NoCal with the dad for 1-2 weeks.. and then the kids might visit their aunt in August.

But nothing up for me... maybe will do a zoo, maybe a NJ beach, and then maybe will fill the days with books, or work. Very Happy

no plans as of now.. several weekend one day trips to nearby lakes and towns..

thats about it..

but our cricket league is starting much to the dismay of all the players' wives and families..

this summer will be busy as in laws are visitng us first time. this is first time I will be staying with them, hope they wont take their daughter with them as they don't know I drink. will be visiting Niagara and Sault St. Mary for sure. also camping to Awenda is planned for Aug.

Long weekend in Yosemite. A longer weekend in upstate New York. That's about it. I so miss last year when we took a month off for a vacation.

After enjoying living almost seaside in CA, SC, and later in FL - it's sometimes a drag to get to beaches in the East Coast. Figured y'all locals know some good/decent ones...no?

Since we are with kids, we go to point pleasant, seaside heights or wildwoods. Romantic getaways are more to the south, this place that starts with a C, forgetting it's name... We also used to go to Jones Beach in Long Island when we lived in NY, though it can get crowded...Jones Beach also has a huge pool, so that's fun, and it's boardwalk scene is very nice, with a lot of country performers and local audience participants... Never been to Hamptons, and now it's too far for us.

Had planned to go to Japan but that is not on now. Either England or New Zealand. It is rather late and need to see what kind of deals I can find for these places.

If those don't work out, maybe a sun-n-sand place though that is not something I really want to do.

I will also visit India for a short period at the end of summer and bring my mother with me.

What's the weather in New Zealand this time of the year?

Parents might come here in August... they keep saying no, but we are giving them the deal that if they come, we all will go to Alaska cruise... one of his friends had told him to keep Alaska cruise as one of the last major holiday trips, coz once you do that, all else looks pale...let's see if they come.

Don't know yet. Would like to go to eastern europe, but need to squeeze in a trip to India.-- got to work out the schedule. Kids don't want to go anywhere.. Then there is the money angle

It will be cool to cold, depending on the place. Yes, not the optimal time to visit but it shouldn't be too bad. I am leaning towards England.

Some friends of ours did the Alaska cruise recently and were very happy with the whole experience. I have some kind of mental block againt cruises - I feel that's something I should do when I am over 60.

Most of the caribbeans or bahamas cruises are actually geared towards young families... the kinds that cruise in the nights, and then halts at an island for the day... my sis went in a 5-day such cruise, with 2 friends...and they totally enjoyed it.

The alaska cruise is fun, if you have a lot of patience. The average age is about 87 but when you get to the glacier (mendenhall, if i remember) you will think it was all worth it. There is one that they combine with overland time in alaska for a few days. That may be more fun.

If you really want to go on a better cruise, I would recommend the one out of rome thru the cyclades (greek islands)- athens- istanbul.

This is mostly for the rents... dad has toured most of Europe when he was studying in england... so that might or might not hold the charm for him... Alaska is something somehow stuck in his mind for quite some time.

i thoroughly recommend the alaska cruise for folks looking to have fun with aging parents. three generations together for two weeks on a ship is a lot of fun. plus it's not like there is no physical activity -- you can go do long hikes wherever the ship docks. plus there is an on board gym.

Going to India with my younger son. Had a tough time convincing him to go to India. It's going to be a pain to engage him there.
Planning to cover madhurai, tanjavur, kanchi and yeah, Ramanashramam Smile

when i go visit my bro in Chennai. Rest of the time, I'll be in good ol' Hyderabad with parents and other aging aunts and uncles and a few cousins who stayed back in india.

Expect a very busy summer, year with lots of challenges, tensions, and calculations (or miscalculations?)

Received an offer for a 2nd full time job. Need to make a decision if I can handle 2 full time jobs and still tackle everything else on the plate (including posting here).

Life's entire work, plan, and processes in every sphere under exam this year, and the results will be out by next Summer - pass/fail/first class/first class distinction?

The exam starts duly this Month.

P.S. I showed my Big boss - who yelled at me the first 10 min - why the boss was wrong and proved why I was right all the time, and indicated as a matter of fact there WOULD be consequences for crossing my path - smilingly.

to be honest, this summer has been excellent. temps in pune are below 40 even in the month of vaishakh and two nights ago, i did not even switch on the fan at night. it's that good. i only hope this does not affect the monsoon.
