this was such a hit - partly because of the ah... er... energetic girls - that the original is largely forgotten. mendes is the ugly fella playing the piano. any other music he's produced is unmemorable.

lani hall, the girl in the silver dress, is an accomplished singer, but doesn't get the opportunity to showcase her talent here. she didn't know any brazilian/portuguese, but merely memorized the words. ("tuchimara katu" sounds good!)

i understand that "mas que nada" means something like "but never mind,"; that phrase is seldom used in brazil now.
