Kulam / Gothra System:

For the past 100 years, there has been only demonisation of castes using the discrimination card. There is no real understanding of the jathi structure and our traditional social fabric.

The jathis of india is composed of Kulam and Gothra. A kulam is a set of Gothras, within whom marriage alliance is traditionally done. Outside these kulam, the marriages are NOT done, even if they are of same varna.

I will explain with my own community structure.

I belong to vellala jathi. There are around 40 gothra withi my jathi, with whom marriage alliances take place. These gothras are bound by common cultures, matrimonial customs, rituals etc. Outside these 40 gothras, marriages are NOT done, even with Other Vellala Jathis (say for eg, Choliya Vellalar).

The same is true for all jathis in our region. The vysyas, the barbers, the potters, the parayrs (SC), the sakkiliars or arunthathiars (SC) have a similar kind of Matrimonial structure, and have their own Gothra structure.

In our region, the Tamil Sakkiliars (arunthathiars) will not even marry with Telugu sakkiliars. The cultural difference is so vast even b/w them. The telugu sakkiliars are immigrants from andhra regions, whereas the tamil sakkiliars are rooted here, with land and other historic rights in temples.

The same is the case with parayars and pallars too, who are also categorized as SC.

But for a typical Urban Uprooted Indian, there is NO chance for them to know these details. And for a normal village people, there is no means to explain their social and cultural aspects to the urban indians who wield the power. There is a large dis-connect created by Colonial Forces, b/w these two different Indias. The Vested Interests like Marxists, missionaries, global capitalists, etc, utilise this disconnect, feed a distorted and fasified images of hindu society to urban indians, and influence government policies.

All jathis Oppose Inter-caste marriage:

The inter-caste marriages are opposed by all jathis, including dalit jathis. Why should the government force a thing that majority of people oppose and resist?

Even the ambedkars and other Torch bearers of Social Justice always vied for Upper caste women, and none of them ever married women from castes lower than them.

/** Dalits not being allowed inside temples, backward class women not allowed to wear upper garments, lower-caste people not being able to wear footwear..and what not ..
**/

Its other way around.. those who are NOT allowed inside temple are classified as Dalits.. temples are NOT churches NOR congregating medium.. its abode of god.. only those communities who maintain utmost purity & hygiene in their life are allowed inside..
Those communities which work in leather products, and those tribals groups who live by hunting are not allowed in to temples.. but no one prevented them from worshipping outside..

Today we need to ban more and more upper caste people (who dont follow their life code) from entering temples rather than allow everyone and destroy its sanctity..

When I question the very concept of GOD and religion, how on earth can I agree with this?

SenthilRaja said "only those communities who maintain utmost purity & hygiene in their life are allowed inside.."

Purity and hygeine my foot! I can give the names of at least six people who used to go to prostitutes regularly and had their heads shaved at Tirupathi every year.
