Political observers are raising a collective eyebrow at Tim Pawlenty's decision, reported by Alex earlier, to telegraph that he probably will pull his punches with Mitt Romney in person the way he (lightly) did on Sunday, with the "ObamneyCare" coinage. It's the second time Pawlenty has walked just over the line of slapping a rival, then pulled his hand back fast.

ha ha and more of the ha ha ha because pawlenty had a bery bery bad moment in the debate today when he had the opportunity to take mitt romney on the obamenycare. he did not bite and almost defended his previous stand against romney. he is just not tough enough.

Mitt romney looked very presidential indeed but no one really questioned him deeply when he said his plan and obamacare were fundamentally different. i somehow like this guy.

Pawlenty probably realizes this, but it's already too late for him if he's angling for Romney's VP spot. There's no way Romney's going to pick him after the Obamneycare coinage. For one thing, picture a Dem ad with that soundbite -- using the GOP VP nominee to camaign against the GOP presidential nominee.

So Pawlenty's got to figure out if he wants to waste a year on a Guiliani 2008 like campaign, or go all out for it and attack Romney as needed.

Pawlenty is angling for VP. He knows he does not have a snow ball's chance in Hell to get GOP nomination. He is a weak personality who does not create lot of enthusiasm. He is not an extreme adminstrator and he is more of an economic Republican. But due to political compulsions of GOP primary, he sold his soul and became aggressive. His chance of winning MN for GOP is not given.

My guess is he will be a Cabinet secretary in a future GOP adminstration.

it was rather an easy debate for romney because no one really questioned him about his former stand on abortion, gun control and gay rights.
