Hi everyone in the Asian community.
Do any urdu speakers know what "Nirala" means?
Can anyone confirm if the word is infact archaic or obsolete in the Urdu langauge?
Thanks

think it means rare... as in gem.

don't think it's obsolete, at least not in popular culture when i was growing up. i remember some radio show called nirale nagm or something.. meaning rare songs/poems

yep, it's a Hindi word. It means unique and different from everyone else.

Very famous writer Suryakant Tripathi "Nirala" was given this title because of his writing style, that was very modern for his time, unconventional and most people didn't understand it at the time.

I remember that word very well. A few years ago I was at a mall. There was a NI couple shopping at the store. The wife was very beautiful. The husband was rude to her and ordering her around. Her name was Nirali.
