Mumbai road rage: Microbiologist stabbed to death by three motorcyclists

Mumbai: A microbiologist was stabbed to death last evening in Kalyan near Mumbai in a brazen act of road rage.

Mayur Mehta, 53, was on his way back home from his pathological laboratory, Clinic Care, to celebrate his wedding anniversary.

However, as his two-wheeler overtook a motorcycle in the Rambagh area of Kalyan, the three men on the bike, stopped him and an argument ensued.

Then, in the middle of a crowded street, they stabbed him and fled.

For 10 minutes, as a bloodied Mr Mehta lay on the road, nobody came forward to help.

A woman tried to stop the bleeding with her scarf, and rushed Mr Mehta to a nearby hospital. He was declared dead on arrival.

Mr Mehta is survived by his wife and daughter who is studying to be a Chartered Accountant.
