Oh boy, tons for McCullum and Williamson. Indian bowlers need reminding that unlike on ODIs, test matches don't end after 50 overs of rubbish bowling.

How can Indian bowlers bowl so poorly in test after test? Once the other side batsmen settle in it is always a huge score before they get out.
Srinivasan should outlaw bouncy wickets to bring India back to top. He should then order God to control weather so that India always bats in sunny conditions but bowls in breezy overcast conditions helping seam bowlers.
any other ideas?

Tendulkar is still good enough for ODIs - especially on pitches outside the subcontinent where the young brigade looks like a fish out of water. The next world cup is just one year away. If he comes back and India wins the cup it will be the mother, father and godfather of all comebacks.

Weren't NZ 30/3 in the first innings before our generous bowling helped them on their way to 500? I expect business as usual with NZ recovering to 200 plus this time.

Possible but game does not go only in one direction always. 75 for 6 with all recognized batsmen out. But based on recent Indian bowling performance and dhoni's mysterious bowling changes 200 is not too far fetched.

At tea Nz is 379 for 7 or 78 for 7.
Getting the last three wickets means a lot. 100 still is a possibility.

Finally Indian bowlers showed up. Shami showed he has the ability to turn it on. It is a long time since an Indian pace attack did so much damage and finished the job.
Over the ishant contributed and got 9 for the test.
Indian batsmen finally had a challenge that is fair. They have to show good temperement to deal with decent Nz attack. 320 is lot of runs .
Odds still favor Nz 80/ 20.

They can't bat for a draw so they might as well go for the win. They need to stitch together couple of big partnerships with at least one settled batsman guiding the chase till the end. Pakistan recently chases down 300 plus in about 55 overs on the last day of a test match. Why can't India do 320 in 2 full days?

Looks like Dhobi plays favorites. On the one hand, he gives the longest rope to Raina and on the other dumped Umesh forever. Isn't he the fastest of them all and also only 20 or 21? Are they trying to finish him off completely. he should be playing this game. If he is not used in NZ, Australia or SA, where are they going to use him ? They finished Praveen Kumar and soon they will do away with Bhuvaneswar as well.

Dhoni's test captaincy was never convincing. his team selection is open to interpretation. he favoured raina, ashwin , ishant , and rohit sharma beyond normal.
rohit is finally turning it around. ashwin is good in India.
Umesh yadav remains a mystery. azharuddin and asish nehra were asking the same question? dhoni is like mms. do not talk about difficult problems, they will go away .

I think there should be term limits to captaincy. Any person who is captain for a very long time becomes jaded and their captaincy loses the spark of imagination and boldness. I would start with a 1 year term, extend to 1 more year if results are good, and then rotate that person out of captaincy.

As long as the current pair is around , there is still hope for miracles.
One thing that is very different from the current #4 to the previous one is that he never disappointed when the occasion demanded.

If a wicket falls I would send Jadeja in as a pinch hitter. If he can make a quick 60-70 it will help the cause greatly.

Looks like lot of die hard fans here for team India.

This test match was lost on first two days. Young colts brought india back into the Test. It would be a heartbreak if India fails to push past the goal post.

I am pulling for the guys. The worst that can happen is they will lose a test that is already lost. on the other hand they could also make my weekend.

Dhobi is good for ODIs in sub continental conditions only.

That's right.. that was his comeback match (after having dropped from the team for his miserable performance in SA) but probably was not 4th innings of the match.

The only way India can win this is if Dhobi plays the innings of his life. But I think he will be happy with a double digit loss and take it as a moral victory given how down and out India looked after the end of their first innings.
