1. He dismissed her question - you're not asking how to fix yourself but how to fix your husband.
She very clearly asked him what can *she* do around exploitive husband. She knows maybe fixing others is not a good idea. She wanted to protect herself from the exploitive nature of the husband.
He talks about being straight in life. Then why not give a straight answer to a direct question? Why assume n then assert it's not what you wanna know. You wanna know something else :-|
2. He then called her the problem or the one who complains about the problem. No one likes such people. He said if she was a solution then everyone including her husband will want her.
He's telling her she can't fix the husband but can ensure her son doesn't become exploitive.
So she already knew husband can't be fixed. That's why she asked if there is something she can do from her end.
And he laughs at his own jokes. Worse he laughs at people who are sad n ask him a question.
