Unambiguously liberal Mario Cuomo died today.  He was a better orator than bill clinton and is more pleasing to listen to.  He is also a very intelligent leader. He stood by his principles despite the political cost ( opposed banning abortion and supported gun control and other litmus liberal issues).  I did not agree with his high tax and spend approach but that did not diminish my respect for his abilities.

>> I always thought of Cuomo as an old style democrat. Clinton was  more of a pragmatist.

yes. Mario was a true liberal (old style) dem. Clinton is a blue dog dem (center left).

Mario had to struggle with italian ethnic streo type.
