Job aspirants shocked, no official for interviews

Job aspirants who arrived here today to appear for interviews called by Skill Tree Consulting Private Ltd Company for engaging vocational trainers in schools under Himachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan were in for a rude shock as no official was present to conduct the interview.

The aspirants who had come here from various parts of the district, assembled for the interview at Government Senior Secondary School Bhangrotu, on the outskirts of the town, only to find out that no such interview was to be held. More than 300 candidates, some of whom had come from as far as Chandigarh and other parts of Himachal, had started arriving by 10 am.

The state government had outsourced the task to recruit vocational trainers in schools. Skill Tree Consulting Private Ltd Company was to hire the candidates. The candidates demanded that action should be taken by the government for such gross negligence on the part of the company. Efforts to contact District Project Officer Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan over phone failed as he did not respond.

Gagnesh Kumri, a GNM qualified candidate, alleged that she arrived at the venue in the morning to take part in the interview for the post of vocational trainer in health care under the Centrally sponsored scheme for vocational education in government schools but no official was there to conduct the interview.

“This reflects the unconcerned attitude of the company towards the unemployed youth, who were already bearing the brunt of unemployment. There were 300 candidates from different parts of district, who kept waiting for the officials concern,” she said adding that there was no intimation to any candidate about a change in either the date or venue of the interview.

Another job aspirant Kavita, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, said that she arrived here from Chandigarh to appear in the interview but it was very disappointing that none of the concerned officials were present to conduct the interview. To make matters worse there was no response on the telephone numbers indicated on the website, which had given information about the interviews.
