Paging Tamils reg: Perumal Empty Paging Tamils reg: Perumal

Why is Vishnu called Perumal? Regardless of the kshetra and name of the kshetra-deity, if he is a form of Vishnu, he is referred to as Perumal. What does the word mean? Thanks.

I will rely on the only true tamilian:

Meaning of Perumal

I thought of it as such...but was not sure it could be so laymanly and decided to refer to the Ultimate Tamilian.

umal is a generic first name, like in Pakistani cricketers. perhaps Rashmun could explain this last name first confusion tongue
