The more important question is---whether stories of immaculate conception are true ??
Even though I am an admirer of Christianity , I find ( as an atheist ) the story that Jesus was born to a virgin too much to believe .
Christopher Catherwood says in his book ' Brief history of the middle east ' that Jesus was born due to a union between his mother Mary and a Roman soldier who neglected Mary after having intimate relations with her . Thus the child was an illegitimate offspring and he was raised as a Jew . This is a more believable story .

Imagine how India would be today if Draupathi has been the role model for women instead of Sita. India would have been the most advanced nation with women forging ahead in every facet of life.

the only thing that is common between me and hindu right wing is fear of islam . i dont believe in hindutva really . to me its just a way of fighting the islamic peril . otherwise i dont believe in the principles of hindutva like muslims being forced to call thenselves mohameddan hindus etc .

That is a devious interpretation of what the pope was saying. As an insider to Christianity he is trying correct a detail in the narrative. His correction does not change the Christian narrative.
