Why do people act as if BJP coming to power in 2014 is a sure thing?

UPA is going to be back in power with Congress winning fewer seats than 2009.

UPA is going to be back in power with Congress winning fewer seats than 2009.

I have a feeling that UPA will join forces with JD, while NDA will have JJ and Mamata (god help), CBN, Sena, Akalis.

Even if NDA wins, it will be a circus with dictatorial Modi - at the top and the mercurial women on either side. JJ - a hidden hindutva - will back Modi better than the fence sitting Mamata. But, then Mamata may be a spent force by 2014.

Modi is autocratic, but India has never performed very well under a truly democratic-minded person. So will see how tyrannical Modi will become - if NDA wins.

Mamata will never join NDA because the muslim population in west bengal is around 35%. She can never expect to win state elections without support of the muslims. And most muslims will never support BJP, particularly Modi. Naidu also will not support Modi as PM for fear of losing the secular and also the muslim vote in AP. Notice that he skipped attending Modi's swearing in ceremony. Most importantly, Nitish Kumar--the Bihar CM and NDA ally-- will not support Modi as PM as he has made clear. Bihar also has a large muslim population.

agree - If mamata did not join NDA, it will be a good thing..

Also agree - India is ruled by Muslims. Thanks for the partition otherwise Islamic Democratic Republic of India would have been under Shariat and purdah by now.

it is because muslims are insecure that they vote for the strongest anti-BJP candidate. If there would have been more muslims we would have seen some kind of casteism emerging amongst the muslims with barelvi muslims voting for barelvi candidates, deobandis for deobandi candidates, shias and ahmedias for other candidates, etc.
