Any different from the way Indian police exploits Indians than the Brits did or any of the police from any Aprican country treat their own jitijens than their past colonial masters?

The local elite - who were the stooges of the erstwhile masters - take over and continue to practice their masters laws.

Agree...the intent and purpose behind both types of treatment are different.
