Royalty, a tragic irony Empty Royalty, a tragic irony

I was listening to npr on remembering ALI, and when someone said Ali was royalty in our community (here at 5:05-5:13),
it triggered me to ask while we have fought against it, and the imperialistic powers and have come a long way, but even today, in modern existence, across the globe, we all are so enamored with royalty - 'living like a king', 'my prince, princess' etc., - just like white or light skin is 'fair' with an  insidious implication that dark colored and black folks are unfair.

is it the conditioning or there is a deep hidden desire to be 'royal' in everyone? sure it can be quickly dismissed as just metaphorical for rich and famous.
