Here is a guy whose family traditions come from India, a caste-based society with massive wealth divide, low social mobility, little regard for social welfare and outright repression and contempt of females -- Is anyone surprised he identifies as a Republican?

Immigration is really the GOP's best hope for remaining relevant, there's billions of backwards brown people that come from misogynistic, tribal cultures in the third world that would love to move to America and they'd fit right at home with the Republicans.
