More dirt on Manafort... looks like his choices will be spending the rest of his life in prison or spilling the beans on Trump. I love it, especially later in the summer.

Manafort Under Scrutiny For $40 Million In “Suspicious” Transactions

In the summer of 2014, an FBI special agent questioned Manafort at his attorney’s office in Washington, DC. Manafort denied knowing anything about money reportedly stolen by the Yanukovych government, according to internal FBI emails reviewed by BuzzFeed News, and promised to turn over documents to the Bureau. He never did, according to the two officials.

“We had him in 2014,” one of the former officials said. “In hindsight, we could have nailed him then.”
This takes us all the way back to the beginning of this thread, when HA was smugly dismissing the likelihood of Manafort's crimes being investigated. The feds were already investigating Manafort well before this thread started. Nice!

Looks like Mueller is asking witnesses whether Trump was aware of the Russian hacks before the stolen emails were published.

We may yet hope that Hope stays in the limelight because of the Mueller investigation... she was on the plane with him last summer when Il Douche dictated the false statement about Jr Douche's 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russian agents to discuss dirt on Clinton.

Obama, Dubya and Clinton went through 4-5 communications directors each in their eight years in office. Il Douche is about to get his sixth barely into his second year in office. I suppose all the lying in this administration burns through them faster.

Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign chairman, runs a significant risk of spending the rest of his life in prison and the evidence against him by special counsel Robert Mueller’s office seems strong, a federal judge declared in an order made public on Tuesday.

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/03/13/judge-manafort-could-face-rest-of-life-in-prison-460302

Oh dear! It was August 15, 2016 when I first talked about this possibility upthread.

Oh dear! The "witch hunt" line has collapsed entirely, the Trump administration has now validated the Mueller indictments of Russians with sanctions, Nunes's attempts to cover it up have failed spectacularly with even Trey Gowdy contradicting him, and Manafort faces a 300+ year jail sentence. Will trumptards finally come to their senses? Likely not.

Rick Gates, Paul Manafort's business partner and the guy Manafort left on the Trump campaign after Manafort officially "left," was directly communicating in September and October 2016 with a Russian whom he knew to be a GRU spy.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2018/03/28/mueller-just-drew-the-most-direct-line-to-date-between-the-trump-campaign-and-russia/

This is from Mueller's court filing:

Fourth, the lies and withholding of documents were material to the Special Counsel’s Office’s investigation. That Gates and Person A were directly communicating in September and October 2016 was pertinent to the investigation. Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agents assisting the Special Counsel’s Office assess that Person A has ties to Russian intelligence service and had such ties in 2016. During his first interview with the Special Counsel’s Office, van der Zwaan admitted that he knew of that connection, stating that Gates told him Person A was a former Russian Intelligence Officer with GRU.

It is funny to see trumptards defend the NO COLLUSION line when we know about the several guys on his team who actively tried several times over the years to collude. Too long to list all those occasions, so just a few highlights:

  • Son, son-in-law and campaign manager meet with Russians based on promise that Kremlin had dirt on Clinton that they wanted to share with the Trump campaign
  • Roger Stone claims to have talked to Guccifer 2.0, the Russian spy, to talk about hacked documents stolen from the DNC
  • George Papadopoulos talked to Russian government about dirt they had on Clinton that they wanted to share with the Trump campaign
  • Rick Gates talking in Sep-Oct to a guy he knew to be a Russian spy

Other than that (and several other examples), NO COLLUSION, NO COLLUSION!

Remember that line from Trey "Benghazi" Gowdy?

"If you have an innocent client, Mr. Dowd, act like it!"

Turns out Mr. Dowd was dangling presidential pardons to Mike Flynn and Paul Manafort last year as Mueller was closing in on them.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/28/us/politics/trump-pardon-michael-flynn-paul-manafort-john-dowd.html

The talks suggest that Mr. Trump’s lawyers were concerned about what Mr. Flynn and Mr. Manafort might reveal were they to cut a deal with the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, in exchange for leniency...

Mr. Dowd’s conversation with Mr. Flynn’s lawyer, Robert K. Kelner, occurred sometime after Mr. Dowd took over last summer as the president’s personal lawyer, at a time when a grand jury was hearing evidence against Mr. Flynn on a range of potential crimes...

The pardon discussion with Mr. Manafort’s attorney, Reginald J. Brown, came before his client was indicted in October on charges of money laundering and other financial crimes.

[Dowd] denied on Wednesday that he discussed pardons with lawyers for the president’s former advisers.

“There were no discussions. Period,” Mr. Dowd said. “As far as I know, no discussions.”

"No discussions" like "NO COLLUSION" and "no puppet."

Whoa, that's a light sentence. He must have given the investigators something really useful.

That reminds me, upthread there is an example of something that he already gave: confirmation that Rick Gates, deputy chair of the Trump campaign, was talking to a Russian spy in Sep-Oct 2016, knowing full well that he was a Russian military intelligence officer. Perhaps van der Zwaan had some proof of Gates's collusion.

Yes, more of these criminals need to go to jail. Today the federal mandatory minimum sentence for a second offense using food stamps illegally to the tune of $100 is one year in prison. Thousands of people are in prison merely for drug possession. But if you do any of these "white collar" things and you are rich, you are just fine.
  1. Conspire with a foreign country to influence US elections
  2. Violate the ban on self-dealing by charitable foundations and file false statements with the IRS
  3. Take food money meant for jail inmates and give yourself a bonus with it -- and advocate locking more people up so you can get a bigger "bonus"
  4. Create millions of fraudulent accounts in the names of your customers and establish an elaborate scheme to incentivize this illegal activity
  5. Allow someone to steal the data of 50 million of your users without their consent, and hide the breach for more than three years
  6. Run an elaborate scheme of enabling sexual harassers at work by paying off (with shareholder funds) their victims in return for their silence
  7. Contribute $130,000 in hush money to a presidential campaign exceeding the $2,600 individual contribution limit by orders of magnitude
Bonus points for guessing the heroes involved in each item above.

If the candidate's 39-year-old son does it: "he's a kid!"
If the candidate does it: "it was a joke!"

So, yeah, if someone not related by blood to the candidate does it, he's definitely the covfefe boy.

This thread was started by HA on August 14, 2016. Ten days before that, Roger Stone appeared on InfoWars and talked about WikiLeaks's upcoming leaks and emailed Sam Nunberg that he had met Julian Assange. The best part of the story is that Mueller is looking at this now.

Oh dear, Mueller is now going after Trump's lawyer. Make Attorneys Get Attorneys #MAGA!

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/09/us/politics/fbi-raids-office-of-trumps-longtime-lawyer-michael-cohen.html

The F.B.I. on Monday raided the office of President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, seizing records related to several topics including payments to a pornographic-film actress.

“Today the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York executed a series of search warrants and seized the privileged communications between my client, Michael Cohen, and his clients,” said Stephen Ryan, his lawyer. “I have been advised by federal prosecutors that the New York action is, in part, a referral by the Office of Special Counsel, Robert Mueller.”

There are two contenders for today's "oh dear!" story:

CNN reports that the FBI seized recordings of calls Cohen had made. Lordy, there are tapes!

https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/13/politics/fbi-phone-recordings-cohen-daniels-mcdougal/index.html

Meanwhile, a portion of the Steele dossier that Cohen disputed, it now turns out that he was lying and the Mueller team has evidence confirming that part of the dossier.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/white-house/article208870264.html

And the Times is now saying Trump advisers think the Cohen criminal investigation is a bigger threat to Trump than the Mueller investigation. Oh dear!

Yo Trumptards your shtick must sound hollow even to you. If someone not to your liking is not a dem, then he is a RINO. If you read news you don't like, it's fake news. If someone in government is following the law, but doing something you don't like or inimical to leper's interests, then they are from the swamp. You must know it's starting to sound utterly foolish. Time to face up to reality.

What Mueller has done is hogtied leper. He can fire him and there will be no respite from the southern district DA's office. He can't do ONE THING to stop this thing from going to its ultimate and inevitable end.  And I think Mueller did it because he saw the threat of his getting fired was becoming very real with every passing day. Now, we don't have to demand leper's tax returns. The southern DA will find out everything there is to know about his financial malfeasance. And some more. They'll be giving proctological exams to everyone with the last name Trump. Surely leper is wishing he hadn't tweeted about Mueller and Rosenstein.

This is surreal.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/17/politics/donald-trump-jr-blocked-number/index.html wrote:Trump Jr.'s calls to blocked numbers — one of which occurred between phone calls with Emin Agalarov, the pop star son of Russian oligarch Aras Agalarov — have raised questions about who President Donald Trump's eldest son spoke to. Democrats have suggested Trump Jr.'s calls could have been to his father, but Trump Jr. said he did not know.

"So you don't know whether or not this might have been your father?" congressional investigators asked Trump Jr. during his interview, according to the transcript of the interview released by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"I don't," Trump Jr. responded.

The Judiciary Committee Democrats noted that while Trump Jr. said he didn't know who he called, Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski had testified to the House Intelligence Committee that Trump's "primary residence has a blocked (phone) line."

The predisent finally tweets about Manafort after several months of radio silence, and it is not good. This time he is blaming other people for his decision to hire Manafort: https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1003266374473519105

Yeah, the contortions are getting more elaborate. If Sessions hadn't been one of the colluders, he wouldn't have had to recuse himself per DoJ rules. Trump knew Sessions was at the meeting with the papad fellow. But he can never take personal responsibility for any of his actions.

So much no-collusion... turns out Ivanka Trump played a role in the no-collusion too.

New charges filed against Paul Manafort: obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice. This adds to a tremendous, amazing list of beautiful charges that have already been filed including money laundering and conspiracy against the United States. The best charges ever, believe me.

Trump's diversionary theatrics are working rather well on Republicans. The only hope is that the Democrats pick up enough seats in the midterms to control the House. In the meanwhile, it is up to conservative Republicans in Congress to conserve the norms of the republic: http://such.forumotion.com/t46170-we-republicans-must-all-speak-out-to-protect-the-mueller-investigation
