I am extremely disturbed by the fact that TS has zero people on his YM friend's list. I found this out when I hacked into his Yahoo account... Just kidding! He admitted this himself on Sulekha. He said the number of people on his YM friend's list is zero. How does he keep in touch with friends and family far away? How does he chat and web cam with them? I have lost many hours of sleeping after learning about this disturbing piece of information. I've often wondered how to remedy it. Any suggestions?

you need not worry. he always has self for company. he races against self in the pool and on the dirt tracks. he goes fishing with self though neither catch any. they make small paper boats and launch them in the water of the rain for fun. he may be in inertia sometimes (but that is because a TS likes to be in inertia) but he is never alone.

Thats how I have eaten them throughout my life. No other way. For e.g. I cannot eat Urad daal w/rice, or Chana daal w/o lauki, or Arhar/Toor daal if it does not have green dhaniya leaves. Strange?

you should try eating chana dal with chana, dhaniya with dhaniya and rajma with rajma (avoid complicated paste). that will help you discover the self of each dish.

i thought we had a promise that you'd tell me when you were starting to read it? you've gone and read it already? ok. tell me what you liked about it. i will read it over the next few days. but first i want to hear your experiences. does it alternate skilfully between the stories of the current day chanakya-politician and the original?

well, i had some time and decided to read it. did not have internet access where I was, else i would have let you know.

yes, he does weave between the two eras and he is a master weaver. book is fast paced and moves in parallel between chanakya and present day gangasagar misra. this book is basically a look at how democracy has nothing to do with the common man and everything to do with people with and in power. i would imagine it is depressing to think of how helpless it is for the common man living in india. he is given the illusion of voting people into power when in actuality everything has been pre-determined even before the first vote is cast.

more when you read the book - i do not want to give too much of the book away.

i found his writing style very similar to amish's - easy, light and holds the readers attention through great story telling.
