idi nAku cAla ishtamayina song. better quality video dorukutunda? I hear the original prints got destroyed. I s that true?

That's what I heard too.
Reminds me of the same state with the Vipranarayana movie. I tried everywhere for that movie (in any format - DVD, VHS, 16mm, 35 mm) in all the places I visited last 2 times I was in India (Vizag, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Rajahmundry, etc.). No luck.
Then suddenly lo and behold! A friend of mine found a VHS of Vipranarayana in Baharein in the Gulf. The print is so so, but one of the great songs in the movie - choodumade cheliyaa - is completely cut:-(

A great line in that song -- naaree naaree naduma muraari, hariki hariki naduma vayaari - is the lyricist's expert paraphasing of a 4-verse description in Sanskrit in the original "Srikrishna-Karnaamritam."
