Successful are those who know which hopes to keep alive and which hopes to cut short. Losers either give up the possibles, or keep holding on to the impossibles, or both.

It looks like somewhat similar to trading. Keep your winners running and cut your losers. Hoping the losers will become winners leads to drawdown or eventually account blowing up!

Can also relate to part of the Serneity prayer:

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change(losers);
courage to change the things I can(winners);
and wisdom to know the difference.
