I understand users' concerns regarding privacy of their IP address information. I have stopped logging in as admin because of that. But there are genuine reasons for admin activity, which would make things easier for users. For example, TAZ has requested help resetting his password, which I can only do as admin. So the two choices are:

  1. Admin as tech support (admin logs in from time to time to help users with password issues, etc.)
  2. Little to no admin role (admin does not login unless there is a forum emergency*)
I want to see where public opinion stands on this. This will help me decide which way to go. (My own personal preference is 2, partly due to laziness.)

* Forum emergency would be when the forum is under systematic attack (by spammers, disgruntled CEOs, and / or porn peddlers.) Basically anything that gets to a stage where we risk Forumotion taking action if I don't act as admin.)

Just wanted to add by way of clarification: one option is NOT on the table: admin as active moderator. Even if I login (under option 1), I would not be moderating forum posts.
