Nearly 1,600 expelled for cheating in Bihar board exams, several parents arrested

Patna: Nearly 1,600 students, caught cheating in Bihar's Class 10 board examinations, were expelled from it and over 100 parents who helped them use unfair means were arrested, an official said today.

"The students were expelled on charges of adopting unfair means," said an official of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB).

According to board officials, 254 students were caught cheating on the first day of exams last Wednesday followed by 351 on the second day, 336 on third day, 368 on fourth day, and 292 on the fifth and final day Monday.
According to the board, over 1.3 million students across Bihar appeared for the Class 10 final exams.

The BSEB, which conducts the examinations, said it had made elaborate arrangements for peaceful and fair exams, but there were reports of widespread cheating from Shekhpura, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Patna, Jehanabad and Bhagalpur.

A lot of Biharis are in IITs and civil services like IAS/IFS etc.

1. 99% of these guys take the civil exams and IIT JEE in Hindi.

2. I am pretty sure that the NI professors who grade these exams give extra marks to their Hindian bretheren. This could be done out of sheer hatred towards English language or favoritism.

3. Since Biharis are well known for being corrupt, I wonder how many of these Bihari IAS/IFS officers and IIT students have cheated on these exams and made it to where they are now.

I am sure they get the same kinds of questions in Hindi.

It is just the NI guy who grades these papers may be more sympathetic to the guys who write their answers in Hindi.

Assume the same essay type question is asked both in Hindi and Engish.

1. Mr. Vedachalam in Chennai answers that question in English in a clear, organized manner which is coherent and logical. He gets 7 out of 10 for his answer.

2. Mr. Mitrughan Sinha in Patna answers the same question in Hindi. His essay also follows a similar kind of reasoning, style and organization to that of Mr. Vedachalam. Mr. Sinha is more likely to get 9 out of 10 for his answer. That is because Dr. Trivedi, a Hindi fanatic who grades Mr. Sinha's paper is going to be impressed and want to see his Hindian bretheren make it to the IAS by securing a higher rank.
