On Sunday, Naazra lost her daughter and son. The administration claims the children died of diarrhea, but human rights activists allege that they died of hunger and malnutrition.

"Some people are spreading misleading information that the children died of diarrhea but that is not true. These children died of hunger and malnutrition," said Shruti, a member Human Rights Public Surveillance.

Dying of hunger is not that sudden. That too when otehr children are alive and the dead are 14 and 3. It could be due to reasons arising from hunger and malnutrition. Remember a woman was dug out in Bangladesh after 17 days who ate just some candies or cereal bars.. Perhaps, both the people and the Human rights activist are exaggerating and using simplistic terms.

Both versions likely have an element of truth in them... diarrhea may be the proximate cause, while malnutrition is the ultimate cause. As they say, Karna died of a hundred causes.

Naazra does not have the luxury of grieving. She is already fighting to ensure that acute hunger does not claim her three other daughters - 18-year-old Nasira, 16-year-old Naziya and 12-year-old Saina.

Hello! her children are not helpless little infants. They are big enough (and past the legal age for child labor. one of the dead is a 14 yr old, not a baby) to find some work and feed themselves. The mother could work too. Who are they blaming for their hunger and who is responsible for the death of her two children? There are millions like them in india and they are working and somehow fending themselves, not sitting at home, relying on the charity of neighbors and going hungry until dead.
