Michele Bachmann is the candidate Sarah Palin was supposed to be
By Ezra Klein
Michele Bachmann’s interview
with the Wall Street Journal is a precision-guided missile aimed at the heart of the Palin semi-campaign. Whatever you like about Palin, Bachmann will go double-or-nothing with you.
Bachmann is a better politician than Palin, a better policy wonk than Palin, and because she’s a better politician and a better policy wonk than Palin, she’s actually able to be a bit more extreme than Palin, as Palin rarely gets specific enough to do such precise ideological positioning. Put simply, Bachmann is the candidate Palin was supposed to be.

Re: The Tea Party candidate
It is a tragedy to see Michelle Bachmann could even think of running for Presidency. She was considered un fit for US representative job. She made many outlandish comments including one about Obama's 200 million dollar trip to Mumbai. With opponents like Bachmann, Pawlenty, Newt and other no names, Mitt Romney could nominate himself as GOP Presidential candidate.

Re: The Tea Party candidate
Looks like Rick Perry and John Huntsman will throw their hats in the ring. And I suspect Palin might too, although she may just be in it for the money at this point.
All sorts of things can happen between now and next summer. Imagine, if there is a terrorist attack on US soil between now and then, Romney will look weak and Bachmann / Palin will look real strong to the GOP base. And one of them will replace Obama in the White House. If the economy is in the toilet and there is no palpable new national security threat, then Romney will be the nominee, and he will probably win the general election. If the economy and job market get better, all of this will be irrelevant because Obama will keep his job.
BTW, it's not often that a state like MN has two horses in the race for the GOP nomination. You are right Pawlenty might struggle to carry the state in the general, but so might Bachmann with all the liberals who hate her guts in the MSP area.
