I am going to see if I can sign up for a music appreciation class at the local community college in fall. I feel so illiterate..

Thanks. I read a bit of the introduction. This is the sort of thing I am looking for. I have bookmarked it and will come back to it later. I like to listen to different types of music, but this is the first time I felt it would be more enjoyable with some knowledge.

Mozart was known to be an insecure prick. I wonder how he would've felt had he known people would listen to his music 250 later. Also wonder how it would've been had he lived longer.

Was he insecure about his musical talents? Seems like he was naturally talented and people like that usually know it. He probably wouldn't be surprised.

I took a course of Music Appreciation many years ago and that was a much more basic course than this one. I still have the notes from that class.
This one uses the textbook (yeah, the one he himself wrote - found his sales pitch rather grating) a lot and so not having the book and the associated CD can be a bit crippling. I borrowed the book/CD from the library.
