why did this guy miss out while middling talents like suresh raina were blooded ahead of him? he was supposed to be the next coming of tendulkar.

All the hype got to his head and he had some temperamental issues. He got one good chance to showcase his talent in one of those triangular ODI tournaments they used to play back in the day - India seniors, India A, India B or whatever they were called. But he flopped in that series and went off the national selectors' radar. Then a few years later he made the ill advised move of signing up for the ICL. If he had held off on that decision for 6 months, he would have played in the first IPL and probably played for India a year or 2 later.

Also, if I remember right, he was in Andhra or Hyderabad - not exactly the favorite of the cricket establishment - not to mention the hyderabad cricket politics of Yadav.

one of the best talents that there is in india. playing for ICL did him in. however, i am glad that he is now a capped player, so he could earn a million or so in the IPL auction should MI let him go / don't pay him. it is frustrating to watch fly-squatters such as s tiwary and y pathan take home a couple million each while the real talent such as rayudu takes home peanuts (just because he was uncapped until yesterday).

Rayudu captained raina, irfan pathan, dinesh karthik during the 2004 U-19 WC but sadly he couldn't get into limelight owing to dirty politics in HCA. Shivlal yadav was the main culprit for his sorrows. There was no doubt about his talent right from the beginning and this is evident from the fact that he captained Baroda team only after playing it for 2 seasons.
But i don't see him continuing in the team for long after dhoni returns to the team and rahane/pujara/tiwary will be in contention for his spot.
