Dr Prithviraj notes caste equations would change dramatically if Telangana is formed.
“This would be a honeymoon period for the Reddy community and the Velmas -- the caste that KCR belongs to -- in Telangana. If the Congress declares Telangana then the entire Reddy community in the region would back the party and parts of the Velma community would also follow suit.
“The Telugu Desam Party, which has some base in the Telangana region, will not be able to fight an election under Chandrababu Naidu once the state is formed. The people will not accept him at all since they consider him to a big opponent of the movement,” he says.
“The TRS will survive for a short term since the people feel that it is the only party which has a sentimental attachment to the movement. However, in the long run it will search for an identity. But if the Congress declares Telangana today, then KCR will need to work hard to save his own seat,” Dr Prithviraj says.

Kshatriyas

Not sure if they are superior or inferior to Rajus and other Kshatriyas.

In TN, you probably heard about Nayakas. Several of them were of AP origin. In AP, there is a region called Velanadu (roughly, the Guntur district) and people from Velanadu moved around. Velamas are one such community. Regions in AP were ruled by Reddys, Naidus, Velamas, Kakatiyas, Tulus, etc. They are not necessarily Kshatriyas. They were all well liked by their subjects. The liberal outlook that the people of AP have, perhaps, comes from this background (and partly from Buddhism that had some influence in the past and from social reformers who came from the "upper castes").

Velamas are known to be brave and proud warriors. One of their heroes, Tandra Paparayudu, is immortalized in a famous stage play (Bobbili Yuddham). In Telangana, the Velamas are a prominent community, they are feudal lords and called DORAs. KCR is a Velama Dora. His family was originally from Northern coastal Andhra.

I'm no expert in this area but from what I've seen/heard only Raju(lu) community in A.P is considered as Kshatriyas of chatur varnas everyone else (that includes Kamma, Kapu, Reddy, Velama) belongs to Shudra category though some of them have been regional rulers. Velamas for the most part are classified as forward caste but in some Kosta regions they're BCs.

The BC velamas of Andhra are a different subsect - they are called adi velamas. In Telangana, Karimnagar and Warangal dist have biggest concentration of Velamas as far as I know. And they are forward caste.

Nevada,

The Velamas of Telangana went there long time ago. They became landlords and developed the area (like some others). They are not considered BC because they are feudal lords. Even in coastal areas, not all Velamas are in the BC category. I wonder if Velamas in TN are classified as BC.

Incidentally, there was migration from Telangana to coastal areas as well. You will find Telangaanyulu (a sect among Brahmins) in coastal areas doing quite well.
