Oh on paper, she's fantastic. What better face of India Shining - land of opportunity for the oppressed and the disadvantaged - to present to the world than a highly educated dalit woman?

Her dad, for all his misdeeds and corruption could never be pulled up or prosecuted by anyone for fear of inviting action under the SC& ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. It's a family which has gamed the system and exploited it to the hilt. This prosecution on some entirely peripheral misdeed is a just comeuppance.
