You are getting there. There is a reason for the "snore" and the "hill" in the clue.Obnoxious wrote:5. NAPA nap+a

Oops. Forgot that I logged in with different handles in different browsers and posted the same message in my sleepy state. And I am not able to delete the posts. Hope Rashmun or GK don't catch this. If they don't see the cryptics thread normally , I am safe.

KNAP (nap - hom) for #5 and SUNSHINE (dd) for #9 are correct. STOCKING/STALKING (# is incorrect.Hellsangel wrote:5. Knap

Re: THURSDAY CRYPTICS - 2/6
Update with hints. Definitions bolded.
3. Sound Polish guy on an animal. (7)
hint1: homophone
hint2: did you read about a minister in UP and his animals?
8. Sneaks right up around thighs. ( 8 )
hint1: a reversal coupled with A+B
hint2: use a synonym for thighs ("flanks" mean the same). Prime beef cuts include this word.

Re: THURSDAY CRYPTICS - 2/6
Yes, PURLOINS ( # 8 ) is correct. It is -
(R + UP) reversed (around) + LOINS (thighs) = Sneaks
(R + UP) reversed (around) + LOINS (thighs) = Sneaks
