Rajagopalachari was a Nehru supporter and Nehru was a Rajagopalachari supporter. It is foolish to try and make a distinction between the two. Both were secular in their outlook.

I am not sure. One thing i know is this: Nehru wanted Rajaji as the first President of India, but Sardar Patel insisted that his man Rajendra Prasad become the President. Patel won that fight. Rajendra Prasad had a relatively poor reputation compared to Rajaji.

We have data that one part of that combo failed to deliver. Nehru created and left many problems for the country to deal with long after he is gone. And that immediately makes your claim only 50% valid at best.

Nehru also ensured that India remained a secular country. For this one great act of his i am prepared to forgive him for any mistakes he made. Since a theological Indian (Hindu) state on the lines of Iran or Pakistan would have been a disaster in the long run. And there were many people at that time who were in favor of some kind of a theological Indian state to be established.

But other than this Nehru had a scientific outlook and established technological institutes of excellence, established a heavy industry base in India, did all he could to promote scientific outlook and scientific values, fought against all kinds of superstition, and even his worst enemies have not accused Nehru of being dishonest.

Of course Nehru made mistakes. But the good things he did outweighs his mistakes.

It was Rajaji who saw that India was better off by acceding to Jinnah's demand for Pakistan.

Rajaji was totally against license permit raj.

Rajaji would have been a better PM than Nehru. But the NI crowd including Gandhi did not want this SI to lead the country. He was far intelligent than the Oxford educated Nehru. Unlike Nehru who was craving for international recognition, Rajaji would have been more effective and gotten things done quietly.
