In my opinion, the decision to bifurcate AP was not Digvijaya's. I vividly recall him saying when he first arrived in AP as General Secretary in charge of the state that it is not a good idea for the ruling party to bifurcate a state because past experience has shown that whichever govt has tried this has lost in the elections held just after the bifurcation of the state.

But how did he manage to lose in Telangana too ? It takes a master strategist to lose after giving everything and more than what TG people expected.

He was the one who set the ball rolling by announcing the bifurcation in 2009 as HM and was in the core group of advisors to Mrs G. He did all the initial groundwork as HM before Shinde took over. And he was the one who brushed aside the objections of AP ministers in the cabinet meetings when TG was being discussed as table item and cabinet was being asked to approve the draft even before anybody read it.
