Hypocrisy of Mullahs in Kashmir
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/kashmiri-pandits-are-welcome-no-separate-settlements-for-them-majlis-itihad-e-millat/articleshow/37701460.cms?intenttarget=no
Why should the Mullahs wade into this issue ? How do they care as long as these settlements are not made by demolishing their houses. They seem to be anti-national and projecting the views of separatists.

It is news to me that resettlement of Kashmiri Hindus concerns Muslim Mullahs. Wonder why ? Moreover this is a government plan, not a VHP plan.confuzzled dude wrote:When VHP, Bhajrangdals can wade in, why not Mullahs?
The government of J&K should take a view. The Mullahs have no locus standii on a political issue, that does not impact Muslim religious practice. It is clear they are just espousing the separatists view. In effect they are saying they are with Separatists, and effectively anti-national.

"All separatist and pro-freedom parties have called this bandh together. This bandh is a message to people in New Delhi that its time they looked at Kashmir from a political basis. Right now everyone talks about normalcy, tourism and trade, but there is still a lot of pressure on the common man. There are still hundreds of thousands of troops stationed here, black laws, there are still detentions and house arrests of leaders of the Hurriyat. The message we want to convey is that when this government came to power they made some noises on revisiting the Vajpayee government's approach. But recent statements of the BJP and the government have been divisive. They want to divide and fragment Kashmir. There is no doubt that we want Kashmiri Pandits to return, whether Kashmir is seperarate or not, they have a right to come back. But the fact is the way they are dealing with this problem, creating ghettos, cutting them off from mainstream Kashmiri society, which is not going to help. We were hoping this government will look to rectify the mistakes of past governments, but it seems they want to go back to the old policy of following a security approach rather than a political approach."

Follow up question: What is secular plan for rehabilitating Pundits?
What is the plan for security if pundits return to Kashmir? Expose them to terrorists and leave them to their fate?
The plan to locate pundits in concentrated groups is not by any means a very secure solution but if mullahs are demanding govt remove even that provision, it just shows how blatantly they support terrorist cause. They want pundits to walk in to Kashmir for easy target practice for terrorists to embarrass modi govt.

VHP/Bajrang dals are not the same as Sankaracharyas or the priests in Hindus. Mullahs are equivalent to priests. Their primary function is to interpret religious practices. Now that we have established that the Mullahs are wading into politics (which is not religious practice), and espouse separatist view and are effectively anti-national, let us come to their main argument.
Look at all cities/towns in India. Every city in India as a Muslim Ghetto. Every town and Village has a Muslim Ghetto. Why don't the Mullahs first tell all these Muslims in these ghettos to assimilate? Muslims still they live in a ghetto, despite having outpaced the population growth of Hindus, demand reservations, talk of eliminiating 75 crore hindus and still live in a ghetto.
The Kashmiri Hindus/Sikhs were ethnically cleansed in J&K, quite mercilessly. The Hindus and probably the Sikhs want to come back to their homeland, but for the purpose of security and cultural development they first want to settle together. Once things become better, if everything is ok in say 2 decades, they will automatically venture out. This is how it is going to be, and these are their terms for coming back. The Mullahs and separatists have no case to oppose them. as long as it is NOT their houses that are being used to accommodate the Hindus.

CD,
You are stuck in the sikular CON era. The world is changing and if the govt of India really implements a plan to provide protection for Pandits who want to return to their home state, that is a great move. In the process, if they kick the butts of a few anti-national monomaniacs, that would be even better. If Modi facilitates the exodus of some highly anti-national and hard-core monomaniacs on a one-way trip to Mars to meet Aurangazeb, that would be wonderful.

But to humor you I will answer the other questions. No Hindu is safe in J&K. But that is another discussion. Kashmiri Pundits of Kashmir valley are more vulnerable since they were made special targets by terrorists.
Indian secularists conveniently ignore the plight of kashmir pundits. But Merlot drinking secular's heart melts at the treatment of Afzal guru who was convicted and sentenced to death by judicial system.

It's good if that happens, however, let's not count chickens before they're hatched. I was only refuting Raw's point about Mullah's rights on commenting on the issue, let's not mix that with my views on the settlement of Kashmir Pandits; Apples and Oranges.Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:

The president of this org is the Grand Mufti of kashmir. A Mullah, who's primary job is to figure out dates of Ramzan etc.. and interpret religious practice. Not wade into politics and that too on how Hindus settle. It is not his job. It is a government plan, and the government of J&K has to take a position. Not this guy. He has no locus standii.
Since you quoted Mirwaiz article, about ghettos etc. no wonder you are running away from a response to my question on ghettos through out India. So these guys, after shamelessly letting Kashmiri Hindus be ethnically cleansed from J&K, cannot talk about any of this, when such examples abound in India. End of discussion.

Why should the Mullahs wade into this issue ? How do they care as long as these settlements are not made by demolishing their houses. They seem to be anti-national and projecting the views of separatists.
A good cartoon about the hypocrisy of these guys, with the Mullahs now joining them.
