Interesting that Google is onto India's Mars Orbiter too. Look at the shape of India photographed by Mars Orbiter. Makes you wonder how Kalidasa visualized it 2000 years ago accurately enough for his time. In the very first verse in Kumarasambhavam he says:

अस्त्युत्तरस्यां दिशि देवतात्मा हिमालयो नाम नगाधिराजः।
पूर्वापरौ तोयनिधी विगाह्य स्थितः पृथिव्या इव मानदण्डः॥ 



There is a mountain range named Himalayas to the north (of India) which is the abode of gods. There are oceans to the east and west of that mountain range. The area below the range gradually tapers as you go south acquiring the shape of a pointing needle in a balance (maanadanDa).
