Naming Airports Empty Naming Airports

So they named the domestic terminal at Shamshabad Airport (Hyderabad) after late NTR. Then what will be the appropriate name for the Gannavaram or whatever will be closest airport to the new AP capital? You can't name it NTR again (too close). Why not name it after Tanguturi Prakasam? The problem is initials make it TP airport, and that is not nice. How about naming it after P.V. Narasimharao (the only Telugu PM)? Also it will be like returning a favor - Hyderabad Airport gets an Andhraite name, and the AP airport gets a Telanganaite name. Smile

I don't know if KCR will agree to naming the domestic terminal in Hyd after NTR. The civil aviation minister is a TDP MP. So, he managed to change the name to NTR's.

It would be best to name the Hyd airport after PVN and the AP airport after Prakasam. In fact, CBN will support Prakasam pantulu's name.

May be KCR should propose naming Gannavaram airport after "Taandra Paapaaraayudu." Then KCR being a Velama would be pushing a Velama name, and also a name that would cause sleepless nights to that aviation minister (he belongs to the Vizianagaram royal family; a king of Vizianagaram with the Frenchman Bussy's help killed Rangarao, the king of Bobbili; later Vijayaramaraju was killed by Tandra Paapaarayudu, brother of Rani Mallamma of Bobbili (who personally penned the "sreekara karunaalavaala venugopaala" song). That will be poetic justice meted out by KCR to the aviation minister.

KCR is right on this airport name question.  KCR himself is a big NTR fan and joined TDP for that reason and named his son taraka rama rao.

But politics are politics. KCR is now running a different party and more importantly a different state. While NTR may still carry some weight in T state, it is not very smart to challenge people's passions.  That results in statues being disfigured and names being smeared.

I think both international and national HYD airport should be named after PVN. They have some secondary choices like Zakir Hussain. Make sure they don't name them after Owaisi.

They are building a whole new capital in AP and they got S--t  load of places to name after people.

Great move! There will be many jokes on that.

May be the guys who harass auto drivers for "protection money" when they go to park their cars at Gannavaram airport should call their union, "Friends of Kavitakka".

Well, if Paparayudu were alive today, he will deal with KCR better than the current crop. KCR will shiver in his pants if he encounters Taandra.

Bobbili Yuddham was a very famous stage play (as popular as Palnati Yuddham).

They used to have fireworks depicting Bobbili Yuddham. Those days and those skills are gone forever.
There are saome scare/abuse words in Telugu that resulted from Bobbili Yuddham, Marathi hordes, etc. Some examples:

"boochaaDu / boochi" to scare kids. That is the French general who fought on the side ov Vizianagaram and demolished the Bobbili fort.

"pinDaari vedhava" for an unscrupulous fellow from the "pinDaari" hordes who used rob/pillage villages.

"turakam" after Muslims for people who view and do everything in the opposite way (if you turn to east to pray, they turn to west, if you wash your arms with downward strokes, they do it with upward strokes, if you believe God takes avatars whenever there is too much bad stuff in the world, they believe that everything froze with Allah and Mohammed, and so on).

"kirastaanam" for disrespecting habits (wearing shoes in a place of worship, immodesty, etc.)
