Extremely happy to hear the news. The IT industry has sapped our country of productive youth. It has created a whole generation of pseudo individuals who have no value system or discipline in their lives. Huge salaries have ensured their are arrogant and indisciplined with scant regard to Indian traditions and culture. All they have imbibed on their so called site visits is sleaze reflected in the dirty culture prevalent in their work spaces. Thank God this curse is coming to an end, it was Kaliyuga's biggest curse, I hope they will now concentrate on being good humans first.

TCS Layoffs: End of IT Golden Age or Just Business as Usual? Empty Re: TCS Layoffs: End of IT Golden Age or Just Business as Usual?

Had a chat about this yesterday with my friend who is a TCS employee. The way he reads it, they are targeting under performers who are closing in on 8-9 years of service. They have a grade system with A being the best and D being the worst.
Criteria for lay off is that 8-9 year experience with the company + a D grade in the recent past. And even if there is an improvement in grade from D to C, the manager's remarks make a huge difference. If he says "X" has improved this year from D to C but barely so, his overall improvement is not that great, then the employee heads to the chopping block.
The reasoning behind this is obvious - they can hire 2 eager freshers in place of one under performing senior employee.

Regarding that comment - IT is not the only culprit. This is the age of inflation and excess. Salaries have shot up exponentially in finance, marketing, and various other fields. I know folks who started at 5000 Rs per month and are now earning 3-5 lakh Rs per month and none of them are in IT.
