Kelly Renee Gissendaner has been on death row since 2008 after being convicted of orchestrating a plot to murder her husband. She's set to die by lethal injection on Feb. 25.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Gissendaner ordered:
...cornbread, buttermilk, two [Burger King] Whoppers with cheese and all the trimmings, two large orders of French fries, cherry vanilla ice cream, popcorn and lemonade. She also wants a salad with boiled eggs, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, carrots and cheese to be topped with Paul Newman buttermilk dressing.

"The Daily Mail estimates that the meal contains about 4,200 calories."
I guess calories don't matter to her.

what does it say about huffpost that as this unfortunate woman is to be executed they devote a entire report to her last menu? isn't this one of those liberal, secular-elite bastions unlike the dog-eat-dog fox news? of course when huffpost does it, it's acceptable, it's intelligent reporting. think of the backlash if the fox guys spoke like this. congratulations to huff-post and its readers.

agree with you about huffpost. this was tasteless. but one also wonders about the folks here latching on to it and piling on tasteless humor on top of it.

well, my first reaction was - death penalty for this crime? I know in many other states where they get life (possibly without parole) for it... so that itself was a shocker and felt quite red-state-ish and/or red neck -ish ...
beyond that, it's always been a matter of interest on what such convicts choose for their last meals, even in books, tv, and movies. and yes, people do comment on it. in the huffpost article, I think there are hyperlinks to research or statistics on what these convicts choose. it's just another kind of thought provoking event that makes you wonder about life, death, etc, and humor is just one of the many reactions.

this is another human being and the American govt which talks about exceutions in Saudi and in Iran is going around subjecting citizens to public executions. I understand that someone is dead, that person'e family should receive psychiatric and monetary help, counseling and meditation to help deal with their grief and yes the perpetrator should be brought to justice. You can't say you're going to destroy this person in a tit-for-tat. Isn't that what your sand-people do? How are American different? How are our laws more civil? more humane? more sane? What kind of standards are these? We are the cruelest beings on the planet.
this person surely had a difficult life and a poor education and did whatever for a little money. do you think she could afford the kind of defense those wall street looters got? why do you think she's behind bars and paying with her life? it is the culmination of several injustices in her lifetime: to be born poor and female, to have never received any affection, to not know what a secure home is, to be too uneducated to afford a good defense lawyer, to not know good health. she is helpless behind bars and she could've just been left there like that without having to face the fear of her appointment with death. in the middle of all this some arsehole wants to know what she would like for her "last meal." it is a very cruel joke indeed.

did you feel good when osama bin laden was shot? if so you're no different than "sand ppl" that partied on streets after 911. she premeditated and killed her husband for insurance money so spare me the boohoohoo abt poor woman facing death in prison. I dont have issues with saudi arabia, china, iran etc killing murderers..I support capital punishment. ppl far as I know object to their stoning of 'adulterers' and the fact that their sharia system is so lopsided in treatment of women and minorities.

not sure where you got that from. finding gallows humor distasteful, or taking a stance against the death penalty does not become tolerance for murderers.

** of course not. and next to isis he seems like a kindly uncle. I think we need to confisctae all guns and weapons away from the people in the middle east. there is no other way to halt the killing in the middle east. killing Osama or some other guy obviously makes no difference.
