"An unarmed Jatayu fought and was ready to lay down his life for the honour of a woman (Sita who was being abducted by Ravana) without fear. Can't he be an inspiration for us?" said Modi.
Modi said that the concept of 'Ram Rajya' was a vision that is relevant to this day as it held several messages which are relevant in this age.

"It held an important message for health sector today and that is that no one dies prematurely, all are physically healthy and strong. It held a message for social harmony that there be social harmony and an environment of mutual trust and love amongst all. All are fulfilling their dharma, their responsibility," he said.

Referring to the conduct of citizens, he said the principle was that all are generous and giving. All men and women are in service of others. "On the issue of social conduct, it said under Ram's grace, all disparities and differences melt down and none engages in enmity," Modi pointed out.

The Prime Minister said that the Ramayana held the wisdom behind every aspect of an ideal society.

This is all fine but Modiji's Gujarat appears to have been based on Ravana Rajya model, raping pregnant woman, burning people alive and what not.

Yes, Modi should not quote Ramayana and hurt the sentiments of pampered minorities. If he is secular, he should denounce Ramayana and praise Koran and the Bible.

Garibi Hatao.

Repeat your question again!!!!

What's wrong in quoting Ramayana? I don't see anything wrong in quoting Ramayana and always aspiring to get to a better model.

You can do that too!!!!...

....and we won't complain

Read my comment again. My point is when you behave like Ravana can't preach others to behave differently.

It would be blasphemy to reveal who behaved like Ravan. So, I won't.

Here is an example of Ravan's behavior:
