Non-vegetarians against Narendra Modi
The interesting aspect of Modi—and this makes him honest—is that he genuinely believes the things he represents. Discussing Kashiram Rana, Surat’s six-term undefeated Lok Sabha member of Parliament (whom Modi denied a ticket in 2009) with journalist Saba Naqvi, Modi observed that Rana was different because he was non-vegetarian: “Maans khane wale logon ka vyavhar alag hota hai (meat-eating people have a different temperament).”

in the year 2015, when vegetarian foodstuffs can be produced abundantly and efficiently, there is little justification for eating meat; it is more natural to be vegetarian, and to ban the rearing and kiling of animals for food, especially when doing so commercially encourages cruelty to animals.
there are precedents for banning the sale of meats even in the u.s. for example, in nearly all the states, it is illegal to sell cat or dog meat.

(I suppose, the primary reason for such laws in the u.s. is to prevent the stealing of pets for consumption; but I don't see the difference between cruelty to cats and dogs, and cruelty to lambs, cows, and chickens.)
in other words, it is not an outlandish idea to ban the sale of meat in any part or all of india.

when there is so much of poverty and malnutrition amongst the poor in India it seems cruel to ban the sale of meat at least in India. Besides, there are places in India where vegetables are not found in abundance and are hence expensive. Meat, including beef, provides a source of cheap protein to people living in these areas (like north-east india for example). furthermore, what about cruelty to fishes? should begalis and malayalis be asked to give up eating fish because consuming fish is an act of cruelty? After all, fishes also have a nervous system and hence are capable of experiencing pain.

the idea that a govt should ban beef consumption is out of this world. dictatorial.
lots of farmers sell their cows to others knowing that it's going to end up on someone's table. they ca't take away other peoples livelihood. but this is happening only in Maharashtra right?

Re: Non-vegetarians against Narendra Modi
Opinions come out of arse of any Indian. We are good at it.
Facts:
1. http://www.indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=beef&months=12¤cy=inr
2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_in_India
These kinds of discussions are meant for rich, who can afford steak.
Indian Judiciary will never allow the ban. But thats not my point.
My points are #1 and #2 above.
