In a strange affair, a school teacher eloped with her 16-year-old student in Kadayanallur recently. Sources said, a 26-year-old teacher of a Government-aided school in the locality developed an affair with a student of the same school.

and in Tamil:

தேர்வு முடியும் நேரத்திற்கு முன்னதாகவே அவசரம் அவசரமாக தேர்வை எழுதி முடித்த மாணவன், தேர்வு அறையில் வெளியேறினார். அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து அந்த ஆசிரியை, மாணவனுடன் ஓட்டம் பிடித்தார்.

The society is always fascinated with anything that is out of the ordinary and something that is not the norm in a society. And again, "inappropriate" is a moving definition in both the "older" adult" and the "Child"

A 16 yr old male student and a 26 yr old female teacher is out of the ordinary (at least in India) than a 26 yr old male teacher and a 16 yr old female student (which never would have been a fascination).
