Action:
"Till date I have never eaten cow meat. But if it suits my palate and if I want to eat beef, I will eat it. Nobody can stop me."

- S Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister of Karnataka

Reaction:
"How dare you lay your hands on the neck of Gomata? You are openly saying with a dictatorial attitude that you will eat cow meat... If you have the guts, you come here and eat at Gopi Circle (in Shivamogga), then, let there be no doubt that on that day, you will be beheaded.

- S N Channabasappa, BJP Leader

Hinduism is the religion of tolerance. But the cow is our holy mother and the bull and bullock are our holy fathers. Anyone who eats or shows an intent to eat beef is sub-human and deserves to have his or her head bashed in, if not beheaded. But this doesn't make us Taliban or IS. The violence is an exception because our religious sentiments are offended and in our religion, bovine life is more sacred than human life.

So let us make it perfectly clear: Hinduism is the most tolerant religion and India is a tranquil island of tolerance, peace and harmony. Other than beef-eaters, Dalits, atheists and rationalists, artists and writers returning awards, entrepreneurs and actors speaking out against intolerance, everyone else is perfectly safe in India and enjoys very high freedom of expression. See, you can call the Nehru-Gandhi family all sorts of names and we will only encourage you. That is evidence of the liberties enjoyed in our peaceful land. The 21st century is ours! Jai Shri Ram.

Is there a paradigm shift lately in India?
Unlike before, there seem to be lots of questions these days, in the social media especially (thanks to the Internet perhaps), on the lawlessness, mismanagement, corruption, inefficiency and lack of accountability in Govt. and other sectors, which were overlooked in the past. Moreover, as the new Govt. at the Center takes matters in hand and implements remedial steps to reverse the previously sad situation and ways of doing things, all hell breaks loose and people who the were big beneficiaries under the old system, including scholars, historians, intellectuals, politicians, journalists and others appear to be crying foul and claiming a rise in intolerance while (mis)interpreting the improving situation.

>>>I think the bolded section above pretty much explains the reason for the paradigm shift.

Menon,

Please post videos of Murder, Riot, Looting and Larceny by Hindus.

I'm just about to return something in store and need a valid reason to return.

forget about the screaming TV anchors and pundits on NDTV. are you seriously implying that there was no credible criticism of the congress govt for their entire existence and that criticism of the govt in power by intellectuals and historians started only in the modi era? would you like some examples?

Yes....when an odd incident occurred here and there, it was ignored. When a riot took place, it was brushed under the carpet as a "STATE SUBJECT." Pre 1990, Indira loved the riots. She herself would instigate a riot and summarily dismiss the State Govt - if it was run by an opposition party. Examples are numerous - just look it up.

If it was Advani - instead of Modi, none of these protests would have happened. It is just the jealousy of Lalu, Nitish and Sonia who think they were all robbed of the PM Gaddi by a low life, OBC Tea boy Modi. One can see the evidence by the way Nitish and Lalu treated Modi from 2012 when it appeared Modi could be the BJP's PM candidate.

Upps Aunty, you are talking like some BJP spokesperson, utterly incapable of any introspection and seeing political ganging up and conspiracy all around. While the decimated opposition is undoubtedly riding the intolerance bandwagon, it is being driven by widespread disenchantment in the public. The more BJP attack-dogs tear into their critics, the more the revulsion they are creating. The SRK episode is a case in point.

Very true. SRK, Narayana Murthy, Kiran Mazumdar etc were all beneficiaries of UPA largesse and are now irrelevant in this new dispensation. Speaking up against intolerance and putting themselves in the crosshairs of the chaddi brigades is a pathetic attempt by these parasites to bask in the free publicity their statements fetch them. This pretty much explains everything. Thank you.

You are welcome. These are the only people who are criticizing. Or if there is anyone else, they are perfectly balanced and fair and have never had any ulterior motives. Got it. Thanks.
