I remember watching Indian / Hindi movies along with my very young son in Tripoli (Libya) during 1980s in makeshift theaters. Most of the people in the audience (place usually would be full) used to be Arabic speaking non-Indians (Libyans, Egyptians, Iraqis, Africans ... ) who hardly had any knowledge of Hindi / Urdu but they still made a lot of noise (clapping, hooting etc.) during the movie songs and dances --- huge fans of Bollywood stars and movies.
