In case you wonder if there are any parallels to this movement in history, here are some:

Semitic faiths & Communism: essentially, proletarian movements against societies of the time; they portray the mainstream as oppressors; they advocate violent means to overthrow the existing society. Interestingly, all become intolerant of change and of other cultures. 

(Unlike DK-movement:  Gandhi's approach for change - is a weird one. He wanted a peaceful transformation; what he ended-up achieving is the modern Sikular India in which the mainstream is taken for a ride by those who think of themselves as the disadvantaged; Nehru took Kashmir to the UN and got screwed royally & he told Chow en Lai Hindi Chini bhai bhai and got kicked in the groin........)
