This is a legendary west indian calypso:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uUn74kPZls

The audio is very bad so the way to listen to this song is to read the lyrics as Lord Relator (the singer) is singing:

This calypso is mentioned in Gavaskar's book 'Sunny Days'. And i bet you this is the origin of the term 'The Wall' (for Dravid).

--> gavaskar's views on cricket are always suspect because of his commercial interests. For instance, he is never critical of IPL because he has been getting money from IPL. but what a brave batsman he was.

--> did you see this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26mdmagrOTw

--> there was a youtube video about the first tied test that had excerpts of an interview of sobers. i had seen it before but am unable to find it now. could you see if you can find it.

Now you can claim to be an expert on cricket - by giving "I have seen 2 videos" talk.

In the above video, Ian Chappell says that one ought to never provoke a good player. The reason, of course, is if you do so they will just start playing better to get back at you.

I recall Chetan Sharma (or perhaps some other indian player) saying in an interview that the players had received strict instructions not to provoke Javed Miandad when he batted because the guy just started batting better and better when instigated and provoked. He thrived on such an environment.

In Christopher Sandford's biography of Imran Khan it is mentioned that Miandad would himself try to distract the opponent batsmen when fielding in close in positions (like the slip area; or the forward or backward short leg positions ) by making strange animal or insect sounds.

One english batsman complained to Sandford about having to face Imran Khan's thunderbolts while hearing the sound of a hovering bee in his ears.
