Resting heart rate. Have always been tachycardic, but things started going wacko after the second steroid epidural shot. Seeing the doc today. Stopped my workout midway at the gym. Hate this!

ohhh.. When I read 130, I thought it's your goal weight and you reached it.
Take care of it! And rest, if that's advised.

Kinnera,
if your heart rate was 130/minute during work out ......that was perfectly fine
anywhere between 140-150 during workouts should be ok but should come down just as quickly back to resting
an epidural steroid shot... first or second... wont increase heart rate

Seeing him at 2.30. Shld be fine until then, I guess. Damn these steroids! I'm not going to go for the third shot. Can live with a li'l pain and get rid of it through physio. R'ber the last time we both checked? Yours was 66 and mine 84 and I've set my goal to bring it down to 60s. Now this. grrr! Let's see what the doc says.

so she did !!
then i wonder how much it races during work outs !
she should not be attempting any workouts until she has a check up at the doctor's
wonder how the pain specialist didnt detect it at time of epidural

Resting heart rate. while working out, it goes up to 160s and 170s. the
machine showed 200+ today, though briefly. Steroids probably could
affect the other organs. Will see what the doc says. It may not be
anything to worry abt. All I am worried abt is if it's ok for me to workout the way i am coz i am working out like crazy. Will also get the thyroid levels checked.

Re: 130
my resting is 66, goes up to 170-175 during workouts. Possibly I'm stressing out my heart and will die of some artery bursting or something. Should get to a doc this year or decade.

Re: 130
update: Yup, my doc says it's def'ly because of the steroids. No more of them. He's put me on beta blockers, and if things don't improve, will send me to a cardiologist. Yeh kya museebat hai! One thing leads to another. I hope the beta blockers don't have any side effects.
btw, the ekg at my physical last nov showed a heart beat of 72. It was a healthy heart. The steroids messed it up.

I hope so. Must be a temporary thing. The doc isn't concerned. He believes that the beta blockers should help. Another good thing-i can workout to my heart's content as long as I feel fine. No restrictions there (except for no upper body work out or wt training), touch wood.
edit: did you go to the gym today? Telling ya...we'll value workouts more when we aren't in a position to workout. until then, we don't really appreciate our ability to workout and make full use of it.

Hi Kinnera,
Hope you feel better soon. You sound like one strong woman. I think I broke my upper back; fell from a chair while swinging it and lost balance. I was using mineral ice for last 4 days and still hurts if I don't take tablets. Made an appointment with chiro! I miss working out too...just started beach body.
Stupid chair!

Ouch! Hope you feel better. As for me, like a super woman, I carried a 54 lb thing all by myself upstairs and broke my already weak neck (I have a weak neck and upper back coz of the work i do. Never cared abt the ergonomics or exercising those muscles until now). Suffering the consequences. Got disc herniation, took steroid shots for that and suffering the consequences of the steroids. Learned many lessons in the past one month. Gotta take care of ourselves coz no one else will.

54 lbs really? You are right that we will have to take care of ourselves. I learnt that twice but still sometimes I ought to push myself badly to exercise...after all the stress; to begin is a real challenge for me but, not all the time.
Once when I was having tooth ache and the second one was with when I felt miserable with flu for a week. Thanks Kinns for the motivation.
