Oocyte released from a follicle on an ovary was caught in the act during a hysterectomy.

Ovulation explained beautifully.

Are you sure? I thought human eggs are of microscopic size and hence should not be visible by naked eye. Please check the source again.

Oocyte is within that yellow cyst like structure. That cyst contains the nutrient to maintains the oocyte till it matures and is released.

Oocytes are not microscopic in size. You can see them with your eyes. They are as big as the 'full stop' or 'the period' at the end of this sentence. That is why frog oocytes were one of the first cells which were isolated and used in biology.
