technology
Does anyone else feel compelled to jump on the technology bandwagon just to stay current? A lot of the new stuff that keeps coming up, while no doubt spiffy, seems non-intuitive and a consequence of the need to justify our existence in the economy.
My biggest gripe continues to be the prescriptive nature of technology and how it is changing the way we think and live.

no, i don't. the last gadget i bought was an ipod 4-5 years ago. i also bought a cell phone 3 months ago, but because my old one broke. i don't follow any electronic conversation here.
CDMA, GSM, android, ginger bread stick, windows mobile = greek. my unklification could be complete years ago for all i know.

If this is the biggest gripe you have, then you are a very happy person and should count your blessings. I hadn't even given this a thought, leave alone gripe about it.
But come to think of it, why is it "prescriptive"? You always have a choice picking up only those technologies which you think you'll benefit from. I for one don't see any use for an iPad at present and so have stayed from buying one. I do have a BB but even that is some dated model but which meets my basic needs.

Re: technology
Neither do I - I have the same phone for the past 4 years; previous phone for 4 prior. I keep up with technology meaning I'm aware of what's happening but, am not a customer getting my tech-high on with the latest every few months...

It is a gadget but is it a bandwagon?
